Useful Articles & Information for Home Buyers

If you are considering buying a home or you are currently in the process of making an offer on a home that you wish to purchase, the information contained on this page will be very useful.

This Old House

If you are considering a home that is more than 30 years old, the chances are pretty good that you'll be dealing with issues of old, osolete or outdated equipment, parts and building materials.  Many houses and apartments built before 1978 contain asbestos materials and products as well as lead based paint.  Defective electrical panels are a common observation with older homes. When you hire your home inspector, make sure he is familiar with the issues of an older home. Vesta has in-depth experience peforming home inspections on older homes in Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, Mount Charleston and surrounding Clark County areas. We offer useful tips on upgrades that will improve the safety and energy efficiency of these types of homes. The following links provide additional information that will help you to understand some of the more common issues associated with older homes.

Looking for a Good Inspector?

The following article provides tips and information on why having a home inspection is so important, what's included in the home inspection and perhaps most important - HOW to select a top notch home inspector.
Just remember, choosing the right inspector is just as important as choosing to have a home inspection.

Choosing a Home Inspector

The Best in the Business

This article from the Las Vegas Review Journal (January 2008) provides background on the Southern Nevada Association of Professional Property Inspectors (SNAPPI). SNAPPI is a local inspector association that provides many valuable resources such as training and education. SNAPPI sets high standards for professional and ethical  conduct of its members. Inspectors who belong to SNAPPI have a definite leg up on the competition by having access to Las Vegas' most experienced and reputable, residential and commercial property inspectors and constuction experts. While SNAPPI members represent a very small percentage of the total number of property inspectors in the Southern Nevada region, they are considered the best in the business.
